Design and Technology

INTENT

Our Design and Technology curriculum intends to: -

  • Inspire analysis, problem solving, practical and evaluative abilities
  • Use a rich food technology experience which teaches about nutrition and cooking to support a healthy balanced diet.
  • Motive children to design, improve, make and evaluate products.

All children will be taught the skills and knowledge of Design Technology, as outlined in the programmes of study in the National Curriculum for Design Technology.

Design and Technology is a practical subject, which, involves children in designing and making things. It also involves children in drawing upon the knowledge and skills from other curriculum areas, particularly from science, maths and art. The aim of this school is to develop in children an understanding of how technologists design and make things, and to develop their own ability to work through that same process.

The projects they embark on, will support and enhance their knowledge and understanding of the topic they are currently studying, to give learning, relevance and depth.
