If you wish to stand for election, please complete the attached form and ask another parent of a registered pupil at the school to second your nomination.
It is recommended that all candidates supply a personal statement about themselves for circulation to voters, should a ballot be needed.
Completed nomination forms must be returned to the school by the end of the school day on Friday 23rd September.

Digby The Tedder Primary School is a small friendly and outstanding school, situated on Digby Forces Camp to the south of Lincoln. 

We are seeking to recruit an experienced full time Bursar.

This post is full time during term time; 37 hours per week. Hours of work will be 8.30 – 4.00pm.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all matters within the management of the school, which are supportive to, but do not involve the teaching function and also the administration support in school to enable smooth running of the office.


  • To provide administrative support including filing, word processing, telephone messaging and reprographics work.
  • To assist in the organisation of school activities/events.
  • To use computerised systems e.g. BWon / Scholorpack / Parentpay / Website
  • To ensure the security of cash, checking and banking cash received, including where necessary keeping accounts.
  • To assist in completion of reports as required by governors and external bodies involved with the school.
  • To be responsible for the strategic planning aspects, including all financial implications, ensuring the school makes the best possible use of resources available.
  • To be responsible for effective ‘Risk Management’ for example, regarding health and safety of any third party service contracts.
  • To advise the head and governors on the financial policy and development of the long term financial strategy. Prepare annual estimates of income and expenditure, to obtain agreement to the budget and to monitor accounts against budgets. To report on the financial state of the school to governors. To monitor the annual budget and present regular management reports to the Headteacher and the Governing Body.
  • To keep and maintain all school accounts and to prepare income and expenditure accounts and balance sheets. Prepare financial returns for the DfES, LEA and other central and local government agencies within statutory deadlines.
  • To secure bid based competitive funds by the use of bidding systems and contacts.
  • To negotiate, manage and monitor contracts, tenders and agreements for the provision of support services.
  • To be responsible for general personnel matters for example ensuring new staff are cleared for employment, and to seek\provide advice on salaries and terms and conditions of employment.
  • To supervise the schools insurance in all forms, obtain quotations and pay invoices in a timely manner.
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of the school site and buildings. Maintain an inventory and arrange for the maintenance, repair or replacement of the equipment including furniture and fittings.
  • To be responsible for the recruitment, professional development, appraisal and training of all support staff.

The successful candidates will have: 

  • Previous experience of working in a school role desirable
  • Computer literate
  • Prepare and manage budgets
  • Excellent standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Strong IT skills including use of MS Office - Word and Excel are essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, staff, parents and visitors to the school.
  • Be reliable, flexible, organised and able to prioritise work.
