Class 1 Spring Work

What an exciting term we have had in Class 1.

In Geography and Knowledge and understanding of the world we learnt about the continents and our place in space. The children particularly enjoyed learning the continents song and were often singing it while working and playing. We learnt about how the weather changes in relation to the equator and explored the polar regions and winter weather. The children also really enjoyed the planets song and learning about all the planets in the solar system.

In Art, we have been exploring various techniques including painting, weaving and tie dye. The children in Year 1 created some amazing tie dye flags while the Reception children made and painted papier mache planets.

As the term progressed we went on to learn about spring and the changes around us. We have planted our own seeds and are eagerly watching them waiting for them to turn into beautiful sunflowers.

This term, we have also celebrated Chinese New Year. We performed a dragon dance, made paper lanterns and learned the story ‘The Great Race’. This is a story about how the animals in the zodiac were decided.

Everyone enjoyed coming in as a favourite book character to celebrate World Book Day. The costumes were fantastic. We all made our own book marks to take home and use in our books. We love to share a story in class and on this day we read and read and read!

We still have so much more to learn. Stay tuned to find out what else we get up to.
