Class 1 Summer Work

What a wonderful term we have had in class 1.   To begin with we enjoyed looking at animals and life cycles.

We were lucky enough to have some little visitors in our class…chicks!   We watched them hatch out of the eggs then had fun watching them running around with their little friends.  They stayed with us for a week then went back to the farm.

The next week we took delivery of some more special visitors…. Caterpillars!  We found it fascinating watching them grow bigger and bigger then form a chrysalis around themselves.  After a 2 week wait they emerged out of the chrysalis into a beautiful butterfly.  The first one emerged on the Queen’s jubilee so we named it ‘Jubilee’.

We all had a lovely day celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.  We held a plate designing competition, made crowns, then finished off with a picnic on the field with all the parents.

The year 1 children learnt about road safety.  We had a visitor in to teach us lots of things about keeping safe including recognising road signs and how to cross a road safely.

Sports day was a success and all the children took part and had lots of fun.  The weather was fantastic and once again parents came along to enjoy a picnic afterwards.

This term we saw temperatures soar.  Lincolnshire was recorded as the highest temperature in the UK at 40.3c.  The children did so well coping in the extreme temperatures.  We took the opportunity to learn about sun safety and the importance of staying hydrated and how to protect ourselves in the sun.

Well done class 1 on a fantastic term.  We are very proud of all your achievements.
